Take Control of Your Life
By Rafael Perez
I know, some of you are probably wondering what an eggshell has to do with your life. I use this analogy to give you a picture, let’s say a starting point. Your life is really so much bigger than you have imagined, but an eggshell is a good place to start.
The idea of an eggshell reality came to me growing up in one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago. I worked at a family owned business and had the experience of meeting many different people.
Being in a “not so good” part of town gives you a completely unique perspective growing up. Being in a large city also introduces you to a lot of pain that society faces. I want to point out that along with the pain there was much good, you just had to look for it.

Many people think that if someone earns a big salary , it means more capacity to pay their debts and in this way, a debt free life, but that is far from the truth, especially because the more money you earn the higher debts you can have, so the cycle will repeat again and at that time with higher debts.

There is much talk and discussion in coaching circles about passion and how pwople should be encouraged to find their passion. The belief is that by following your passion, you will lead a happier and more fulfilling life.
I want to challenge this belief and I’ll start by calling it a load of ‘twaddle’.

Your Life Purpose
By Jill Rapley
There is a well worn cliché: “if you don’t know where you are going, how do you know you have arrived when you get there?”
Before I left New Zealand for the mission field where I accomplished much of what I set out to do, I attended an intensive Bible School course with a class of about 20 students.
During a vacation time back in New Zealand I met up with one of my companions from this class and he told me that few really did anything after graduating.

How can I improve my life? That is a question we may all have asked ourselves at some time or other.
Here are 4 simple ways you can try today in order to improve your life. There is no guarantee they will work and some may work better for some people than for others but I think all are worth a try.
1. Stop spending money. Okay, you may not be able to stop spending completely, certain bills and demands have to be paid. The secret is to identify the expenditure you have to make and those items that are non-essential. Concentrate only upon the essentials and you will find that you soon have better control of your budget and, just maybe, fewer financial worries to contend with.
2. Tell your partner you love them. Instead of the usual mundane conversation about what you’ve done today or maybe not even talking much at all. Tell your partner how much you love them, relate an episode you shared in the past and explain how good it made you feel. The chances are, your partner will respond accordingly and you could end up by having a nice cordial, maybe romantic, conversation … or more!
3. Perform one act of kindness. Choose someone and perform a kind act for them but do it without expecting anything in return. You may choose your partner, your spouse, one of your kids, a friend, a work colleague or a neighbor. Just think about that person for a short while and try to identify something they like, think of something you could do for them, or maybe just someway you could compliment them.
4. Give time for yourself. Allow yourself maybe half an hour or an hour for yourself. Give yourself the time and space to think, meditate if you wish or just to relax. Maybe take a soak in a hot tub or sit quietly in a park, garden or a quiet room. What you think about is up to you, maybe you don’t want to think at all but give yourself the time and do not feel guilty about doing nothing… mind you, do make sure the boss is not paying you for this time!
So there you are, four simple ways you can try today in order to improve your life.

Do you want to be happy? I think few people would say ‘no’ to that. Here is one author’s tips on how to be happy.
Do You Really Want to be Happy?
Author: Kym Robinson
Do you think you need your life circumstances to change before you can be happy? Most people have long held ideas in their head of what they think will make them happy and can’t be happy unless those things happen. Well, once most people get something they have wanted, they probably won’t be satisfied for long. They realize there is still a hole that needs to be filled with happiness, so they must get something bigger and better, and surely that will make them happy. Some people just don’t allow themselves to reach contentment. Do you notice that you can’t stay satisfied either?
Even when things dont seem great, the bonus is that a change in your mindset is all it takes to feel better and be happy. Here are 3 steps to help you be happy.
1) Make sure you are thankful for what you already have, dont take things for granted. It’s a very positive state of mind. Instead of focusing on all that you don’t have, focus on all that you do have. Even focus on and be grateful for the small things. This positive thinking brings happiness.
2) Take a step back and see the flowers through the trees - you wont be enjoying life much if you are always all over the place. For real contentment, make time for yourself so you can dream, relax, and enjoy the good things life has to offer. Enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Take in and enjoy the smile of a loved one. Do things you enjoy regularly. Reading good books or listening to music you like are good ways to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
3) Enjoy the journey- Most people are so focused on the end result, that they don’t pay attention to the journey of getting there. People focus too much on finally “getting there” and think that will finally make them happy. Don’t forget about the journey to get where you are trying to go, because you can gain a lot from your journey too. Make sure that when you hit the target, when you achieve what you set out too, that you give yourself a pat on the back. The more you enjoy the journey, the more you’ll enjoy the destination.
Sometimes happiness is simply something that you choose. Certain situations can make it extremely difficult to feel happy, but a lot of times people let small things bother them so much, that they are not allowing themselves to be happy. Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill. Choose to be happy and embrace it. It will make your life a lot better.
