Did you know that the leading cause of suicide is undiagnosed depression? That’s right, most people who commit suicide have been suffering from depression that had not been recognised. We’re not talking about people who simply feel ‘down’ or sad or unhappy but people with a long term depression. Chronic depression is something that really afflicts people seriously and can lead them ultimately to consider suicide or attempting suicide. This they may do either to end their suffering or as a cry for help to someone to recognise their condition.
The saddest thing about people who commit suicide through depression is that the depression can be treated. Nowadays there are medications, therapies and counseling which can all be used to help stave off the worse effects of depression. So I guess what I’m saying to you is that if you feel you suffer from chronic depression, go see a medical practitioner rather than considering suicide. If you feel you are not suffering from long term depression, maybe you have just experienced a set back in your life … even a major setback or loss, then suicide is almost certainly not the answer for you.
I promised you, though, 5 best ways to commit suicide … well, you might like to consider these;
- get a gun and shoot yourself through the head. It’s quick but messy and maybe painful. There is always the chance that the gun you obtain will be traced by the police who’ll arrest you before you get the chance to use it.
- knife yourself. Very messy, very painful if you don’t do it right and certainly not for the squeamish. There’s always the chance that you won’t stab yourself properly or in the best place which leads to a period of agonising pain and bleeding, this will almost certainly make you want to call for medical assistance and this might just save your life.
- Step in front of a train/bus/lorry. Could be quick but still quite messy and there’s the chance that you may survive, albeit badly injured. There’s always the chance that the driver might brake in time to avoid hitting you and other people around may just spot what you’re trying to do and stop you. Just think also of the pain you cause innocent bystanders who have to watch what you do and consider the effect it may have on them and the driver’s life.
- Starve yourself. Stop eating food altogether, that’s sure to have an effect. Mind you it could be a long time process, there are other people starving in the world because they have no food and yet they seem to survive for quite some time. It also looks like quite an excruciating way to die. There is always the risk that someone may spot you and notice how thin you are, they may seek medical intervention on your behalf, they may even label you with anorexia.
- Take pills. Which ones though? If you take the wrong ones, they could lead to a lingering death or maybe just make you urinate a lot more. Of course, you’ve got to get the pills somehow. Are you going to go to the pharmacy or the drugstore? Yeah, sure, the guy there won’t know what you want them for, he’s not going to inform the authorities … is he?
Come to think of it, every way just seems problematic. You’re probably better off living your life after all.
